Do you need a website? Really? Do you?
Make the right decision for your business. With the truth, not media hype.
Despite what a lot of people tell you, not every kind of business needs a website.
While some people (mainly web developers looking for work) try and tell you a website is as necessary as a business card, for some businesses this is simply not true at all.
Websites have a number of advantages however:
- Give valuable information
- Provide extra value services - Like currency converters
- Give contact details to customers
- Finding new customers
- Added services for existing customers
- Allow customer support
- Great for local, national or global advertising
- All feedback from your customers
- Generate revenue online
While the list above is often very common for larger businesses, some smaller business websites need nothing more than "online leaflets" with information and contact details. Which is fine, considering so many people use the Internet for retrieving information.
Three questions you should ask yourself:
- Do my customers or potential customers use the Internet?
- Do my customers or potential customers look for our products and services like mine on the Internet?
- Would my customers or potential customers expect businesses like mine to have a website?
If the answer to all these questions is a no, you don't need a website. If however you answered yes to one or more of the questions, it's time to get your business online.
